Deployment
We played this scenario slightly differently than the ruleset. We set up a single middle objective instead of two and we kept the four relics next to the deployment area active for turn 1 and 2. In turn 3 we destroyed them and split the middle objective in two. A bit weird, but it worked out pretty well in the end.In the deployment phase we were limited to deploy 6 units so I decided to put my very best first.
Turn 1:
Claiming the relics
This was a great turn for the Sultanate. Cappuccino and Marie curie grabbed the relics in the back. Everyone else started to move up front. Simba came from the reserves, moved, dashed and took the relic in the middle of the table. He was shot afterwards by the sniper priest, but survived with a blood marker. Marie Curie tried to blow the brains off that sniper priest, but only managed a blood marker on him. The forces of New Antioch were unlucky and only managed to take one relic, so turn 1 ended with a 3-1 to the Sultanate.
Taking positions
Simba claiming the middle objective
Turn 2
Beginning of Turn 2
In this turn there was definitely more shooting, but strangely no casualties. A trench dog charged Simba in the middle, he failed to do anything and then they were both heavily shot at but somehow survived.
Spider dog fighting Simba while getting shot
I got to use my new recruit the assassin who charged two enemies, but kill no-one (just a blood marker).
My Jannisary Gomez shot at the communicant and killed it, but he has tough so, he will leave to take his revenge next turn.
Gomez ready to shoot at the big guy
Shortly after he was shot by a grenade launcher and was downed.
Marie Curie shot at the sniper priest and this time he was down (but not dead!).
Sniper priest down!
In terms of points, once again the Sultanate secured 3 relics and New Antioch retrieved 2 so the total goes to 6-3 to the Sultan warriors.
Turn 3
Altair excelled in acrobatics, but he was rubbish in the killing game
Alatriste enters the game
After game thoughts: The Sultanate felt clearly inferior here. Our forces were equal in number but the New Antioch abilities and most importantly weaponry is obscenely better than the Sultanate. Hopefully the game developers at Trench Crusade do something about it.
